The awardees were recognized for their involvement and meritorious accomplishment during the conduct of SAFE 2016, police operations and other commendable accomplishments. One noteworthy was the recent accomplishment of Cavite particularly Bacoor City Police Station wherein more r less 10 kilos and 400 grams of suspected shabu were confiscated and 4 suspects were arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted on May 17, 2016 at Park Homes, Brgy. Queensrow, West Central, Bacoor City. Anaother remarkable deed that was given recognition was the act of the couple police officers namely PO2 Raymond L Matundan and PO1 Mary Joy M Matundan both members of Talisay Municipal Police Station of Batangas Police Provincial Office who displayed honesty and dedication by bringing back without hesitations to the owner of the lost pouch bag in May 14, 2016, containing large amount of money, passbook, ATM Cards and other valuable belongings owned by Mrs. Teresa De Leon Maravilla of Brgy. Sto. Tomas, Batangas. The story of the couple were already featured in various TV program both local and national and was also liked by netizens i the social media after it went viral. They were also given recognition by the local government of Taisay for such exemplary display of character. The awards were presented by PRO4A Officer-In-Charge PCSUPT Ronald V Santos assisted by Regional Chief Directorial Staff PSSUPT Bernabe M. Balba.

Troops who scored against KFR, to be promoted to next rank Camp Vicente Lim- “The troops who operated against this Kidnap-for-Ransom group deserve to be promoted meritoriously to the next rank,” the Chief PNP Police Director General Ronald M Dela Rosa said during his visit to the wounded troops at San Pablo City Medical Center, San Pablo Laguna yesterday. The Chief personally extended financial assistance to the wounded personnel while he congratulated them for their heroic act. The armed encounter happened in the early morning of April 10, 2018 along Maharlika Highway, Brgy. San Nicolas, San Pablo City Laguna between the joint elements of Anti-Kidnapping Group led by PSUPT Edward Cutiyog, Candelaria Municipal Police Station led by PSUPT Edward Mallo, and San Pablo City Police Station led by PSUPT Germogenes Cabe, Provincial Intelligence Branch of Laguna, and Laguna Mobile Force Company and the KFR group onboard Isuzu Sportivo without plate number. The encounter resulted to the instantaneous death of 4 suspects and PO1 Zarah Jane Andal of Candelaria MPS and the wounding of 3 other police officers namely PO1 January Mendoza, PO1 Jeffrey Orlanes and PO1 Jun Jun Villaflor . The kidnap victim was also wounded and Sebastian Manalo, a bystander. One of the suspects was brought to San Pablo Medical Center but died later that day. The troops were conducting follow-up operation on the abduction of Ronaldo De Guzman Arguelles, 40 yrs old, and a resident of Brgy Mangilag, Candelaria, Quezon that transpired on April 9, 2018. During pay-off operation, the operatives chanced upon the vehicle of the suspects prompting them to cautiously approach the suspects, Firefight ensued between the operatives and suspects. The suspects were wearing Camouflage uniform of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4A (RMFB), however they were wearing slippers which is not the usual norm of a legitimate PNP officer and armed with Thompson which is not the issued firearms of the PNP. Upon thorough verification, it was confirmed that they are not members of the PNP. “Suspects are not policemen. It is good that this incident was settled so that they will not again blame the police on similar incidents like this,” the Chief PNP said. The four killed suspects were identified as (1) Simplecio P. Pareno alyas Kent Lim, (2) Marcelino Sican alyas Daluz, (3) Juan Vicente Lubasco, (4) Jairo O. Adanzo and 1 still unidentified. According to investigation, the suspects were native of Bulacan, Pampanga and Capiz and some of them were former security guards. General Dela Rosa also said that although there are laws prohibiting the selling of PNP uniforms to non-police and military officers, the organization has no control in the procurement or purchase of PNP uniforms from military suppliers. Meanwhile, the Chief also visited the wake of the late PSI Alvin R Kison at Lipa City and SPO2 Edilberto A Eje at Batangas City both were casualties of an armed encounter happened in Laurel Batangas. He also talked to the parents of PO1 Andal whose body was still at the funeral parlor at San Pablo City during the visit. Aside from the personal financial assistance he had extended to the victims, he said that the PNP will also be giving assistance to the families of the wounded police officers.(PIO- PRO4A)
